Job summary

UNC Lenoir Health Care in Lenoir County seeks a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room. You will assist physicians and nurses, maintain a sterile field, and ensure patient comfort and safety before, during, and after procedures.

Responsibilities include setting up instrumentation, counts, sterilization, and equipment prep, with ongoing professional education and adherence to infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and completion of a recognized surgical technologist course.
• CPR certification required; NSAA CSA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience in an operating room environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Meet patients’ surgical needs and assist in creating a safe environment.
• Set up back table with instrumentation, supplies, and drapes for procedures.
• Count instruments, sponges, and sharps accurately and follow policy.
• Maintain sterile field and perform scrub duties as directed by policy.
• Attend in-service trainings and keep licensure current.
• Assist with sterilization, decontamination, and instrument prep.
• Monitor supplies, manage stock, and coordinate with OR team.
• Support surgeons and staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
