Qualifications

• High school graduate with completion of an approved operating room course for surgical technologist.
• CPR Certification is required; NSAA/CSA certification or National Board Surgical Technology may be preferred.
• Experience preference noted but not required; licensure/registration requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Meets patients’ surgical needs and sets up surgical back table with instrumentation, supplies and drapes.
• Maintains a sterile field; scrubs hands, gowns and gloves, and preps patient according to procedure.
• Counts instruments, sponges, and sharps; ensures accurate documentation and infection control compliance.
• Cleans and decontaminates instrumentation; operates washer/decontaminator and prepares instruments for sterilization.
• Maintains stock, coordinates with OR team, and supports cost containment in the department.
• Trains new staff in specialty area and communicates with surgeons to optimize patient care.
