Job summary

New York Power Authority is seeking a Project Engineer for the Waterway Infrastructure team, supporting the revitalization of the New York State Canal System. The role involves leading and executing large, high-accountability projects including replacement of water control structures and dam rehabilitation, with a focus on community benefits along the Canal front.

The position is provisional for up to three years and offers a comprehensive benefits package tailored to individual and family

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage large complex projects and programs.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical, structural and/or water projects.
• Strong collaboration and vendor/stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage project lifecycle from initiation to close-out for complex projects.
• Coordinate in-house and external resources across multiple projects and modifications.
• Ensure licensing, environmental, permits, safety, codes and stakeholder inputs are incorporated from initiation through design.
• Develop design documents, budgets, forecasts, bid documents and evaluate proposals.
• Collaborate with Construction Engineers, engineering teams and service providers on change orders and construction sequencing.
• Review project documents, specifications, reports, schedules and risk registries.
• Occasionally perform emergency response and mentor junior engineers.
