Job summary

Boston College is seeking a Lead Food Service Worker to supervise and participate in the preparation, serving and storage of vegetables, salads, sliced meats, baked goods and desserts. The role includes cashier duties as needed and directing other workers at the station.

Reports to the Kitchen Manager and earns a competitive hourly wage with benefits. 35 hours per week, with potential for additional duties during breaks and events.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education. NRA ServSafe certification and MRA Allergen certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years? experience in a large volume food operation. Supervisory experience preferred.
• Skills: Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced operation with a diverse staff. Must have good human relations skills. Must be able to operate basic kitchen equipment. Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine supportive tasks such as cutting, mixing, slicing, assembling, serving and storing food under supervision.
• Assumes lead responsibility in work areas as assigned and directs other food service workers or student employees.
• Transports food and supplies to service areas and replenishes food as directed.
• Participates in cleaning, sanitation, and safety of assigned areas and equipment.
• Assists in training food service workers and students.
• May assist in bussing trays in dining room and setup of work areas.
• Assists in executing catered events and may perform cashier duties.
• Performs other duties during slow periods such as holidays and summer.
