Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) seeks a Lead Operating Engineer to manage the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems at our Taylor, MI site. The role includes supervising a team, coordinating with the Chief Engineer, and ensuring safety and reliability of building services.

The position requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, trade/technical education, and licenses (Boiler, Refrigeration) with EPA certification or plan to obtain.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related work experience in repair/maintenance/HVAC/plumbing/electrical/carpentry
• Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
• Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
• Low Pressure Boiler Operator license required
• 3rd Class Refrigeration License required
• Leadership/supervisory experience
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, knee lift and/or drive
• Strong customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Lead operation, inspection and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems
• Assist Chief Engineer with directing the team
• Maintain CMMS work order system daily and respond to tenant service requests
• Assist in training and supervising engineering staff
• Support on-call or emergency response situations
• Troubleshoot building systems including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls
• Comply with safety procedures and participate in training
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
