Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the operation and daily leadership of the facility maintenance team on-site in Detroit, MI. You will protect asset value while ensuring systems run efficiently and safely.

The role requires extensive experience in HVAC/electrical trades, strong managerial skills, and the Ability to manage budgets, PM programs, and collaborate with contractors. A universal technician certification and a 2-year engineering degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years facility-related work experience with leadership and supervisory responsibilities.
• Minimum 6 years documented HVAC or Electrical trade experience, or 4 years trade + 2 years supporting education.
• Managerial experience and ability to manage budgets and projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and safety regulations.
• Proven customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the facility maintenance department.
• Foster collaboration and ensure safety across the building staff and occupants.
• Oversee HVAC, electrical, and other mechanical systems operation and PM schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for engineering teams.
• Train and develop engineering staff and conduct performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with external contractors and regulatory agencies and report to senior management.
