Job summary

JLL, a global leader in real estate services, is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer for an on-site role in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will lead a small engineering team in maintaining mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems at a large Class A office building.

Schedule is 6am-2:30pm Monday through Friday with rotating on-call. 3–5 years of related experience and a valid EPA certification are preferred. On-site presence is required; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years related repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry experience.
• Trade school, union training, military service or college is desirable.
• EPA/CFC certification or plan to obtain within first year (with company assistance).
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall.
• Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform core maintenance tasks including painting, lighting, plumbing and HVAC system care.
• Assist in supervising and executing the preventative maintenance program.
• Maintain the work order system (CMMS) and tenant service requests.
• Help train and supervise engineers to expand team capabilities.
• Support on-call or emergency response as needed.
• Troubleshoot building systems including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in ongoing training.
