Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an experienced Boilermaker/Boilermaker Helper for industrial new construction projects. You will read blueprints, fabricate and install iron/steel structures, and work with the mechanical department on a large construction plant.

You will identify tools and safety risks, operate cranes, verify alignment, and perform bolting, riveting, cutting, bending, and welding as required. Physical work at height and travel to job sites are involved.

Qualifications

• 4+ years’ experience as a Boilermaker Helper, Boilermaker Ironworker or comparable position.
• Ability to meet all physical requirements and work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
• Must have all required tools and reliable transportation.
• Able to read and interpret IFC drawings and craft specs; lay out from drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work and material quantities.
• Identify tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and apply precautions.
• Fabricate equipment per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Hoist equipment into location using bull rigging or crane.
• Verify alignment of structural-steel members with plumb bobs or laser equipment.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts per drawings.
• Bolt members in position for riveting or bolting.
• Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces with torches and welding equipment.
