Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; department training helpful.
• 6+ months to 1 year of similar or related experience preferred.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and recipes.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and assist with needs throughout the store.
• Check orders for the day and set up production timelines; prioritize special orders.
• Prepare, bake, fry, and pull items from freezer or cooler as needed.
• Review product freshness and plan for current and upcoming days; manage stock.
• Inspect incoming products for quality and quantity; identify mispicks.
• Order supplies and merchandise for the department as directed by the Bakery Manager.
• Lead bakery clerks, provide guidance, and ensure department standards.
• Maintain sanitation, clean work area, and proper safety practices.
• Answer the phone and provide friendly customer service; take product orders.
• Adhere to Hy-Vee dress code and department guidelines.
