Job summary

UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement seek a Lead Azure Cloud Engineer to define and advance our enterprise cloud strategy. You will lead cloud architecture, mentor teams, and drive modernization efforts across AWS, Azure, or GCP while supervising MSP delivery and ensuring security and cost-effectiveness.

This role emphasizes hands-on solution design, governance, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable cloud platforms and standard practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Advanced expertise in cloud platforms with hands-on experience in at least one major provider and familiarity with a second.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture patterns including high availability and multi-region deployments.
• Proven DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering.
• Deep cloud security, IAM, encryption, and governance controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Direct an MSP-based engineering team, assign work, review deliverables, and ensure SLA adherence.
• Serve as primary escalation for MSP-delivered services and coordinate with vendor leadership.
• Establish architecture standards, governance, and best practices for security, scalability, and operations.
• Design and implement IaC strategies using Terraform as primary tooling and CloudFormation where needed.
• Lead documentation, diagrams, and procedures for internal staff and MSP partners.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
