Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking an experienced Technician in Houston, TX. You will diagnose drivability and electrical systems, mentor technicians, and educate customers on problems and proposed solutions.

The role requires leadership, comfort with customer interaction, and a focus on delivering exceptional service. Candidates should have 3+ years of automotive diagnostics and repair, 4+ ASE certifications preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4, A5, plus 2 from listed options).
• Section 609 certification is required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Pre-employment background check required.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brake, hydraulic, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and staff.
• Mentor and lead a shop team to improve customer care and satisfaction.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques through formal training.
• Keep management informed of repair issues and maintain an organized shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
