Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking an experienced Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, lead a shop team, and educate customers on repairs. The role emphasizes hands-on diagnostics, customer interaction, and mentoring colleagues to improve service quality.

The Technician will stay updated with automotive technology, support colleagues, and ensure shop organization while following company policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from: A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance)
• Section 609 certification required
• State Inspection license if applicable
• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to customers or employees as required.
• Mentor and assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop and adhere to safety rules.
