Job summary

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) seeks a Supervising Attorney to lead the Van Nuys Eviction Diversion Pilot Program. You will oversee legal and operational aspects, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with county requirements and best practices at the Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys.

This exempt, temporary role reports to the VP of Access to Justice Initiatives and requires housing law expertise, mediation knowledge, and strong leadership to coordinate

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Minimum of 5 years of housing law, landlord-tenant disputes, or related practice areas.
• Demonstrated experience in supervision, program management, and staff mentoring.
• Knowledge of mediation practices, court procedures, and legal service delivery.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with excellent communication.
• Ability to collaborate with government agencies, courts, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the court-based eviction diversion pilot with multiple partners.
• Develop and maintain screening, eligibility, and mediation protocols.
• Ensure compliance with county contract requirements and reporting.
• Lead outreach and language-access initiatives for diverse communities.
• Recruit, train, supervise staff including timekeeping and ethics standards.
• Conduct regular case reviews, audits, and performance evaluations.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc program performance reports.
• Travel within Los Angeles County as required.
