Job summary

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) seeks staff for the Van Nuys Eviction Diversion Pilot Program, assisting attorney mediators and coordinators to reduce eviction filings. This hybrid role reports to the Supervising Attorney and is temporary and non-exempt.

Responsibilities include outreach, eligibility screenings, data entry in Forward, and assisting with ADR services and rent arrears applications. Travel across LA County may be required.

Qualifications

• Community outreach and public engagement experience.
• Eligibility screening in person, virtual, and by phone.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Data entry, case management, and recordkeeping.
• Ability to support attorneys with ADR services and admin tasks.
• Bilingual interpretation and translation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist outreach to inform community about VN-EDPP services.
• Conduct eligibility screenings and schedule litigants.
• Enter data into Forward VN-EDPP platform accurately and timely.
• Assist attorneys with ADR services.
• Provide follow-up to litigants and help gather documentation for rental arrears applications.
• Maintain detailed notes in Forward and timekeeping in Legal Server.
• Communicate effectively with litigants and assist with service applications.
• Perform clerical duties and maintain confidentiality and neutrality.
• Travel to program offices and courts as needed.
