Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) seeks an experienced Staff Attorney/Mediator for the Van Nuys Eviction Diversion Pilot Program (VN-EDPP). The role ensures successful program implementation, coordinating with paralegals and the Supervising Attorney to reduce eviction filings through mediation and rental assistance coordination.

Formación

• Juris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California, or ability to register as a legal services provider.
• Minimum of three years of legal practice experience, including housing law, landlord-tenant disputes, or related areas.
• Knowledge of mediation practices and court procedures is strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage challenging litigants and work under pressure with professionalism.
• Experience in fast-paced, results-driven environments with multiple priorities.

Responsabilidades

• Provide high-quality alternative dispute resolution services, including evaluating litigants, preparing documents, and making referrals.
• Enter required data into the VN-EDPP platform accurately and timely.
• Communicate effectively with VN-EDPP Litigants.
• Assist litigants in applying for services and rental arrears assistance when eligible.
• Observe confidentiality and neutrality of litigants.
• Conduct outreach and provide community education and materials as needed.
• Travel to program offices and courthouses as required.
