Speechify is seeking an experienced Team Lead for the Android Core Product based remotely in the United States, with Knoxville, TN as the stated locale. This leadership role combines coding with ownership of major features, reliability metrics, PR reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to ship high-quality Android experiences.

You will guide a fast-moving team, unblock blockers, and drive architectural improvements while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with time leading a team or owning a major surface while hands-on
• Rock solid Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work
• Strong testing mindset and approach to writing tests
• Experience introducing lasting improvements to a team
• Comfort with leading change and balancing competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design through release with design team collaboration
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback
• Unblock the team and ensure the best version is used across the stack
• Keep shared components maintainable and well-documented for future pick-up
• Drive process changes and shift verification left in the CI pipeline
• Plan work with the team to focus on decisions rather than already-clear work
• Balance review workload and ensure consistent sign-off
• Participate in cross-functional discussions with Product and Design
• Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA
• Mentor early-career engineers and provide learning opportunities
