Speechify is seeking a Team Lead for Android Core Product in Austin, TX, with remote work options. You will own core features end to end, write and review code, and drive the team to deliver reliable, testable Android experiences.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, leadership, and a strong focus on UI/UX beyond the initial spec. You will lead features across Kotlin, Coroutines, MVVM, and modern Android tooling, while guiding QA, automated tests, and release processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Proven expertise in Kotlin and Android architecture patterns.
• Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work.
• Understanding the importance of tests and how to approach writing them, including what can't be covered by them.
• Track record of delivering features the team actually uses, not just personal speed.
• Ability to describe how your team works with AI agents, not only how you do personally.

Responsabilités

• Own major features end to end, from design to release, in collaboration with design and engineering teams.
• Maintain reliability metrics for key features and monitor performance.
• Review pull requests with constructive, scalable feedback.
• Unblock the team when blockers occur and ensure timely progress.
• Promote consistency across code and shared components, consolidating where needed.
• Drive proactive process improvements and shift verification left with automated checks.
• Coordinate planning to maximize decision-making and minimize repeated work.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to bring constraints early into discussions.
• Handle critical issues, own feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Mentor newer engineers to grow skills and provide learning opportunities.
