Job summary

Maximus seeks a Lead AI Software Engineer to join the AI Transformation and Experience team, building scalable AI-enabled software and APIs for enterprise and government programs. You will design, build, test, deploy, and operate production systems, applying ML methods and strong software engineering practices.

The role is hands-on, with leadership responsibilities including mentoring engineers and guiding development practices. Remote position with meaningful impact on citizen services.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related technologies.
• 5+ years of experience designing or building solutions in cloud environments.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience delivering production software with CI/CD and observability.
• US Citizenship required and ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production AI software applications with scalability and enterprise integration.
• Develop and modify systems software to run internal end-user and business applications.
• Build and communicate insights/algorithms (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive).
• Apply ML methods using code for tool building, statistical analysis, and modeling.
• Lead technical implementation and mentor junior engineers.
