Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Lead AI Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate production AI software within the AI Transformation and Experience team. This remote role focuses on delivering scalable AI-enabled services that integrate with enterprise and government systems.

You will mentor engineers, own technical decisions from exploration to deployment, and translate complex algorithms into reliable production code.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building AI/ML or related technologies.
• 5+ years designing or building cloud-based solutions.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-enabled software applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and integration with enterprise systems.
• Own production systems from discovery through deployment and operations.
• Write high-quality code, tests, APIs, services, and tooling.
• Build AI-enabled applications that integrate models with data and cloud services.
• Apply CI/CD, observability, security, resiliency, and performance best practices.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and design discussions.
