Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Walker, MI seeks a Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to drive new product assembly launches. You will develop cost-effective manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and quality standards, and you will lead a launch team from quoting through production.

This in-office role requires strong knowledge of automated assembly, tooling, welding, and GD&T, plus CAD tools, project management, and cross-functional collaboration with Program and production

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or AS with 4+ years in related industry
• Automated assembly experience with cell layout and operations
• BIW product understanding and sheet metal fabrication/assembly knowledge
• Proficient in AutoCAD and CAD viewing; Project Management
• Robotics programming experience a plus (Fanuc/ABB)
• GD&T understanding; ability to read dimensional reports

Responsibilities

• Manage suppliers/integrators to ensure projects stay on time and automated equipment is built to standards.
• Design and develop manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and equipment.
• Maintain weekly schedules with suppliers/integrators and manage open issues and timelines.
• Review and approve tooling designs, system layouts, control design, and weld documentation.
• Provide project leadership from quoting to sourcing to production.
• Collaborate with Program team; provide weekly progress updates.
• Ensure plant processes meet requirements and prepare plants for system acceptance.
