Job summary
CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Law Clerk I to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The role emphasizes litigation support tasks such as cite checking, document review, legal research, and drafting.
You will assist attorneys through all phases of litigation, using Westlaw, Lexis, and Relativity, under supervision. A JD or active law student status is required with strong knowledge of federal and state courts.
Qualifications
- Requires JD or current ABA-approved law school status, with at least one year of study or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
- Thorough experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
- Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and blue book.
- Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions and briefs.
- Reviews and researches ROI and new cases; drafts statements of facts.
- Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation; edits and reviews final decisions and opinions.
