CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Mid-Level Law Clerk to support litigation for a large federal agency. The role emphasizes complex legal research, cite checking, document review, and drafting legal documents under supervision.

The position requires JD or current law school enrollment, strong familiarity with Westlaw/ Lexis, and ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high quality work.

Qualifications

• Requires JD or current ABA-accredited law school student with at least one year completed.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
• Proficiency with LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Experience with cite checking and blue book.
• Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
• Reviews and researches ROI (Release of Information).
• Reviews new cases and conducts research of pertinent laws.
• Edits previously submitted final decisions and writes/researches legal opinions on newest cases.
• Edits and reviews cases for issuance.
• Responds to citizen letters.
• Reviews AMICUS briefs.
• Briefs attorneys regarding legal issues, theories and draft statements of facts.
• Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
• Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and blue book.
