Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Law Clerk to join our Legal Department in Washington, DC. The role supports litigation tasks such as legal research, cite checking, document review, and drafting briefs and motions under supervision.

The successful candidate will have a JD or be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school, with strong research skills and familiarity with Westlaw and Lexis. This full-time position offers growth and exposure to government procurement matters.

Qualifications

• JD or currently attending ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
• Expertise with LEXIS and Westlaw for research and citations.
• Experience performing complex legal research and cite checking.
• Proficient with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and file management.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents such as motions and briefs.
• Cite checking via Westlaw and Lexis and BLUE BOOK formatting.
• Reviews ROI and conducts case research on pertinent laws.
• Assists attorneys in all phases of litigation.
• Responds to citizen letters and reviews amicus briefs.
• Briefs attorneys on legal issues and statements of facts.
