Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) in the United States seeks a Mid-Level Law Clerk to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. You will perform litigation support tasks, such as cite checking, document review, and extensive legal research, to assist trial staff.

The role requires a JD or current ABA-accredited law school student with strong knowledge of fed/state courts, blue book formatting, and proficiency with Westlaw and Lexis.

Qualifications

• Requires JD or current ABA-accredited law student with at least one year of study.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
• Thorough experience with legal research tools such as Lexis and Westlaw.
• Extensive experience with cite checking and Bluebook formatting.
• Experience performing complex legal research.
• Proficiency with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging software.
• Ability to deliver high quality work under extreme pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex legal research for trial staff.
• Assist in preparing draft legal documents including motions and briefs.
• Conduct ROI reviews and other document review tasks as needed.
• Review new cases and research pertinent laws.
• Edit final decisions and draft legal opinions on recent cases.
• Support attorneys through all phases of litigation.
• Cite check using Westlaw and Lexis, ensuring proper Bluebook citations.
