Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL seeks a Facilities Mechanical Systems Engineer II to design, develop, construct and activate mechanical facility systems supporting launch and manufacturing operations. The role requires periodic travel to Kent, WA, Alabama and Texas as part of cross-site support.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, develop requirements, manage budgets, and ensure safety and mission assurance while coordinating with vendors and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical engineering required.
• 5+ years of complex facility design, operations and maintenance experience.
• Experience leading small- to medium-sized teams with multiple subsystems.
• Strong project, budget, and team leadership skills.
• Safety mindset with hands-on hazardous operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical systems requirements and perform verification.
• Manage design, analysis, and development of launch support facilities.
• Oversee construction, activation and vendor performance for mechanical systems.
• Create drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
• Plan shakedown tests and review data for activation.
• Mentor engineers and identify safety improvements.
