Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design and implement efficient production systems, ensuring quality from DFx through to assembly. You will work with design, quality, and supply chain teams to streamline operations and reduce costs while maintaining safety standards.

The role emphasizes manufacturing documentation, process validation, and adoption of new technologies to enhance production timelines and reliability in aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role across levels 1–3 depending on years.
• 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
• Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts; extended hours if required.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT) for reliable vehicles.
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate space builds.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001) are met.
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new lines and equipment.
• Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing tools to optimize processes.
