Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design and implement efficient manufacturing systems for space vehicle production. You will ensure quality control, document processes, and collaborate across design, quality, and supply chain to optimize production timelines.

The role requires 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, second-shift flexibility, and experience with DFx methods. Relocation is available; a strong focus on safety and process improvement is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply).
• Experience in a manufacturing/industrial/process engineering role is required (3+ years Level 2, 5+ years Level 3, 8+ years Sr).
• 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), DFA, DFT for building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
• Translate engineering requirements into robust manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production to accelerate production timelines.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation: work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, inspection plans.
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop corrective actions.
• Ensure work aligns with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines/equipment.
• Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing tools to optimize processes and first-time quality.
