Job summary

Responsibilities

• Understands appropriate specimen collection, handling, and transport per departmental procedures.
• Processes, triages, routes, and stores specimens according to established departmental procedures.
• Evaluates specimens for acceptability and follows the procedures for specimens that do not meet criteria.
• Prepares, organizes, and reviews specimens for run set up with accurate sample order and patient identification.
• Performs and documents quality control and supports equipment maintenance within guidelines.
