Job summary

ARUP Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Client Support Technician- Processing in Salt Lake City, UT, to provide technical and preanalytic support for a designated division and clients. You will handle specimen information, assist with testing requests, and serve as a liaison between customers and laboratory operations.

The role emphasizes accurate specimen processing, cross-team communication, and ongoing training to maintain competency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (or better) required or preferred.
• Associates Degree or better in Biology or related field preferred.
• Must complete and demonstrate department training and competency within 6 months.
• HIPAA training and/or knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information System (LIS) preferred.
• Ability to type 35 WPM and use 10-key skills.
• Call center work experience may be beneficial.
• General medical laboratory experience preferred.
• College level courses in medical terminology, biology, communications or related life sciences may be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Understands appropriate collection, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• Accurately processes specimens according to established departmental procedures; may include specimen triaging, routing, and storing.
• Evaluates specimens for acceptability and initiates problem resolution.
• Processes requests for add-on testing.
• Builds and maintains customer relationships throughout all communications while providing a positive, professional and empathetic understanding.
• Documents customer communications, resolutions, issues, and appropriate follow-up.
