ARUP Laboratories, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Technologist Trainee to prepare for independent work as a licensed technologist and pursue ASCP certification within five years. The role operates under supervision by senior technologists and supports both technical and non-technical laboratory services.

The schedule includes 7-on/7-off, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with a four-to-six week training period Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.

Qualifications

Education: Technologist Trainees must have a Bachelor’s degree in the chemical or biological sciences with course requirements.
Cytogenetics and Molecular Biology: 23 science credits, 3 physics/math/statistics, 16 chemistry credits.
Hematology: 23 science credits, 3 physics/math/statistics, 16 biological science credits.
Microbiology: 23 science credits, 3 physics/math/statistics, 16 biological science credits.

Responsibilities

Performs waived and automated analytic processes.
Oversees calibration on self-calibrating instruments and performs select calibration processes.
Performs selected moderate and high complexity analytic processes (both automated and non-automated).
Operates laboratory instruments and ensures proper functioning; maintains records and documentation.
Performs and documents quality control and equipment maintenance.
Accurately logs in and processes specimens according to procedures.
Follows specimen collection, handling, and transport procedures.
