Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Laboratory Team Lead to support performance improvement, staff development, and daily operations at our La Grange, IL facility.

You will coordinate staffing, mentor phlebotomists, oversee pre- and post-analytical processes, and ensure regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality patient testing. This full-time role emphasizes teamwork and safety in a busy clinical laboratory.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred for applicants.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience leading a team in a clinical lab is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in performance improvement activities and monitors staff performance.
• Assists leadership with staffing, orientation, training, coaching, and competency assessment.
• Coordinates and facilitates clinical education experiences for students.
• Leads committees and supports special projects as assigned.
• Ensures organized workspaces and proper supply management, including post-analytical tasks.
• Adheres to safety policies, PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling with training.
• Oversees transport and handling of hazardous waste per regulations.
• Leads lab performance improvement, promotes teamwork and patient satisfaction.
• Monitors program needs and assesses service and staff.
• Performs pre-analytical activities: equipment maintenance, inventory, collection, processing, cleaning.
• Provides technical and support information for lab testing across ages.
• Supports staff scheduling, workload, troubleshooting, and motivation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
