Job summary

TriCore is New Mexico’s largest laboratory, seeking a Laboratory Scientist to perform waived to high-complexity tests at Lovelace Women’s Hospital. The role emphasizes QA, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with clinicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science or equivalent qualifications.
• No experience required for Laboratory Scientist I; higher levels need experience.
• CLIA-based qualification pathways and site-specific requirements are described.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or high complexity lab tests for diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment as needed.
• Run quality control testing and document results to ensure instrument readiness.
• Support waived point of care testing and QA oversight programs.
• Collect specimens when required and prepare them for analysis.
• Assist with training of new staff and coordinate with internal/external customers.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science

Associate’s degree in laboratory science

Education/training equivalent to an associate degree in laboratory science

60 semester hours with required science courses (chemistry/biology)

CLIA qualification as Testing Personnel for moderate/high complexity
