Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. is seeking a full-time Life Science professional in Indianapolis to prepare and analyze microbiological samples (air, water, bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria.

You will perform quantitative and qualitative analyses for foods and environmental samples, maintaining sterile techniques and accurate documentation. The role requires a Bachelor's in Life Science, US work authorization, and lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Life Science (Biology or Microbiology preferred).
• US work authorization without sponsorship.
• Lab experience in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
• Experience with aseptic technique, food microbiology, or culture-based microbiology.
• Ability to use phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biosafety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and maintain sterile techniques.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses for food: Aerobic Plate Count, Total Coliform / E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Yeast & Mold, Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli O157:H7.
• Prepare samples and adjust pH.
• Document sample preparation and analytical activities.
• Perform quality control per QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones.
• Cross training in other lab disciplines.
• Other responsibilities as deemed by the manager.

Job DetailsJob Location: Indianapolis, IN 46250Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria
• Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis for Food to include: Aerobic Plate Count, Total Coliform / E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Yeast & Mold, Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli O157:H7.
• Sample preparation and pH Adjustments
• Documentation of sample preparation and analytical activities
• Quantitative and Qualitative analysis of bacteria cultures to include common environmental bacteria such as Micrococcus, MRSA, Legionella, Bacillus, etc.
• Confirmation analysis of presumptive and suspect isolates, requiring critical and flexible thinking approaches
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Cross training in other lab disciplines
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

QualificationsRequirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
• Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Experience with aseptic technique, food microbiology, or other culture-based microbiology lab experience is a plus
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift:

Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday rotational schedule as needed Training schedule is Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Indianapolis are encouraged to apply
