Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Denver seeks a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) with on-the-job training provided. You will prepare and analyze microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria and generate reports using the LIMS system.

The role requires a Life Science bachelor’s degree and US work authorization. Prior lab experience is a plus, and candidates should be comfortable with microscopes, safety cabinets, and sterile techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship.
• Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
• Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plus.
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices.
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria.
• Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
