Job Details

Location: Houston, TX 77040. Position Type: Full Time. Salary Range: $18.00 per hour.

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Houston. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On‑job training will be provided for all new employees.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria
• Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio‑aerosol analysis
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
• Laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic examination, and other culture‑based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plus
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self‑motivated, adaptable, and possess a positive attitude
• Effective time‑management and organizational skills, and ability to multi‑task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Shift & Hours

Positions are full‑time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Houston, TX are encouraged to apply.
