EMSL ANALYTICAL INC in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (Chemistry) to perform sample analysis and support environmental testing. The role involves analyzing diverse matrices and ensuring data quality across methods.

Ideal candidates will have three years of hands-on experience in environmental chemistry, familiarity with EPA/NIOSH/OSHA methodologies, and the ability to work with GC, GC-MS, HPLC, or XRD instruments in a full-time capacity with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a chemical or physical science field.
• Three years' prior experience in a commercial production laboratory.
• Experience with GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and/or XRD instruments.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in water, air, soil and solids.
• Familiarity with EPA, NIOSH, OSHA and other methodologies.
• Understand ISO 17025, NELAC, AIHA and other accreditation requirements.
• Follow SOPs, QC procedures, and data validation for each method.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instruments.
• Perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, volumetric measurements and using analytical balances.
• Perform calculations and compile data.
• Handle laboratory reagents safely (acids, solvents, etc.).

Job description

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (Chemistry) in Indianapolis, IN. Ideal candidate must have three years hands on experience in environmental chemistry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of matrices: water, air, soil, and/or solids
• Familiarity with EPA, NIOSH, OSHA, and/or other potential methodologies
• Understanding of ISO 17025, NELAC, AIHA and/or other state accreditation program requirements
• Follow standard operating procedures, quality control procedures, and data validation established for each analytical method
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instruments
• Perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, performance of volumetric measurements and the utilization of analytical balances
• Perform calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtained
• Be comfortable in a laboratory setting involving the use laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents that require care in use and when handling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a chemical or physical science field of study
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
• Three years' prior experience in a commercial production laboratory
• Experience with one or more of the following instruments: GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and/or XRD
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, be able to multi-task and prioritize assignment
• Must be able to work independently and with a team
• Must be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignments
• Knowledge of basic computer skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required
• Flexibility to work alternate hours and overtime may be required to meet business demands

Available Shift

Position is full-time Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Indianapolis, IN are encouraged to apply.
