Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) to perform bulk/material analysis for asbestos using PLM, PCM, and TEM, with data entry into LIMS and report generation.

You will work Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., performing QA/QC, equipment maintenance, and collaborating with team members. A geology-related degree is preferred and US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related science preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Light microscopy/optical mineralogy training preferred.
• 0–1 year experience in asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
• Team player with good time management and organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM/PCM/TEM.
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of materials.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Generate reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Adhere to QA/QC procedures per manual.
• Handle administrative duties including data entry and report filing.
• Assist manager with other tasks as needed.

Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos)

Job Location: Indianapolis, IN 46250

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related science is a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
• 0 to 1 years' experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift

Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
