Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Georgia is seeking a phlebotomy technician to join our clinical lab team. You will perform blood collection, prepare specimens, and support processing under CMS/CLIA standards, ensuring patient safety and specimen integrity.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience; enrollment in a medical technologist/technician program may substitute experience. EKG experience and healthcare setting exposure are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as phlebotomist, lab processor or lab assistant; enrollment in MLT/MLT program may substitute for experience.
• Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes preferred.
• Experience with EKGs and healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA '88), OSHA and Georgia regulations.
• Performs venipunctures and prepares blood specimens per Piedmont policies and procedures.
• Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.
