Job summary

TridentCare in Brockton, MA is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our laboratory team. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 1pm to 9pm with alternating weekends and holidays, performing specimen collection, labeling, and processing according to protocol.

Responsibilities include verifying patient information, ensuring proper specimen handling, preparing samples for transport, and communicating with offsite labs as part of the Sample Tracker workflow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical laboratory terminology is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Mark testing locations on requisitions when specimens arrive.
• Verify correct specimen and tube types on the requisition.
• Ensure patient name, collection date/time, and P number are on the requisition.
• Apply proper barcode prefixes to all specimens.
• Coordinate redraws and related paperwork as needed.
• Centrifuge specimens per protocol for testing.
• Package coolers for shipment to offsite labs.
• Create air bills and communicate flight info to labs.
• Route specimens to correct lab benches; use PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
