Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to support our lab workflow by handling order entry, specimen pickup, transport, tracking, receipt and processing. You will master our lab equipment and automation systems with provided training, and act as the friendly face of the lab when interacting with patients, staff, and caregivers.

You will use information systems to keep tasks efficient and accurate, with occasional phlebotomy duties at the site as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle order entry, specimen pickup, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing.
• Master laboratory equipment and automation systems with training provided.
• Interact professionally with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers.
• Leverage information systems to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Occasionally perform phlebotomy services when needed at the site.
