Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to back our lab operations, performing order entry, specimen handling, and processing to ensure a smooth workflow. You will operate and maintain lab equipment and support automation systems, using various information systems to complete daily tasks accurately.

The role may include occasional phlebotomy and requires interaction with patients and staff in a courteous, professional manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience in a medical setting, hospital or clinic laboratory preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and human anatomy preferred.
• Candidate with college-level course work in science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle order entry, specimen and material pick-up, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and automation systems.
• Leverage information systems to tackle daily tasks with accuracy.
• Occasional phlebotomy duties if required by site.
• Interact with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers with courtesy and professionalism.
