Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to back our lab operations, performing order entry, specimen handling, and processing to ensure a smooth workflow. You will operate and maintain lab equipment and support automation systems, using various information systems to complete daily tasks accurately.

The role may include occasional phlebotomy and requires interaction with patients and staff in a courteous, professional manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience in a medical setting, hospital or clinic laboratory preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and human anatomy preferred.
• Candidate with college-level course work in science preferred.

Job Description

Status: 40 hours per week

Ready to be the backbone of our lab? Here's what you'll be doing:

• Keep things moving:Handle order entry, specimen and material pick-up, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing—basically, you'll be the MVP keeping our lab workflow smooth and efficient.
• Master the machines:Operate and maintain our pre and post-analytic laboratory equipment, including laboratory automation systems. You'll become the go-to person who keeps everything running like a well-oiled machine.
• Tech-savvy support:Leverage a variety of information systems to tackle daily tasks with confidence and accuracy.
• Occasional phlebotomy duties: If your site requires it, you'll roll up your sleeves and perform phlebotomy services with skill and care.
• Be the friendly face: Interact with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers with genuine courtesy and professionalism. Your positive attitude makes a real difference in people's experience.

All of this happens under regular supervision and according to established procedures, so you'll have the support and guidance you need to succeed!
