Pearson seeks a Lead Specialist, AI Data & Knowledge Architect to design and build the knowledge foundation for Pearson’s next generation of intelligent K–12 assessment and learning systems. This role sits at the intersection of Content Development, Learning Science, Technology, AI Science, and Psychometrics, translating assessment expertise into computable representations.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in CS, AI, information science, knowledge engineering, or related field.
• Experience designing knowledge graphs in production or substantial applied settings.
• Hands-on knowledge modeling and semantic schema design with ontologies and taxonomies.
• Strong command of graph and semantic technologies (RDF/OWL/SHACL/SPARQL) and their tradeoffs.
• Strong data architecture skills, including data modeling, pipelines, identity, provenance, and lineage.
• Strong programming ability in Python or comparable languages with API experience.
• Deep understanding of predictive and generative AI and retrieval-grounded knowledge.
• Ability to translate expertise into computational representations and communicate tradeoffs.

Responsabilités

• Design and build the knowledge graph and underlying knowledge model for assessment domains.
• Represent standards, competencies, skills, claims, evidence, and task characteristics as computable structures.
• Design for extensibility across content areas, programs, and future AI capabilities.
• Establish identity, versioning, provenance, lineage, and lifecycle status of knowledge objects.
• Clearly separate authoritative knowledge, expert judgments, derived information, and machine-generated hypotheses.
• Evaluate and select graph and semantic technologies for extensibility and maintenance.
• Build pipelines and mappings connecting item banks, metadata, psychometric data, and sources into a knowledge layer.
• Develop schemas, APIs, data contracts, and services for access by applications and AI workflows.
• Partner with software engineers to integrate the knowledge layer into the assessment system.
