Job summary

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. is seeking a kitchen assistant to prepare breakfast and lunch offerings and assist with serving lines in our school dining program. You may participate in occasional catering functions and perform all positions within the kitchen.

Responsibilities include setting up serving lines, following recipes, operating equipment, keeping areas clean, and maintaining proper food temperatures. Strong attention to HACCP and safety practices is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform basic math for recipes and portions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Set up serving lines and maintain proper food temperatures.
• Assist in food preparation according to the menu and Opaa! recipes.
• Operate kitchen equipment with required certification.
• Keep work areas neat, clean, and organized.
• Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes.
• Maintain FIFO inventory and clean cooler/storage racks.
• Assist in dishwashing and maintain sanitation.
• Assist with bread, cakes, and other baked goods as required by the menu plan.
• Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation.
• Serve items with correct portions and hospitality.
• Ensure condiments, utensils, and dishes are stocked for service.
