Job summary

Pura Vida Miami is seeking an Assistant Kitchen Manager to support daily operations in our fast-paced kitchen. You will supervise staff, drive food quality, control costs, and help implement new menu items while upholding our standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in food production or a dining environment, food handler cert, and strong leadership, health/safety knowledge, plus comfort with POS systems. Commitment to teamwork and flexible shifts required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a food production facility, fast-paced restaurant or full dining service.
• Local/municipal Food Handler certification or equivalent.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Experience in training and developing kitchen staff.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting.
• Flexibility to work closing shifts and weekends.
• Culinary school certification or Restaurant Management degree is a plus.
• Proficient with computers and POS software.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and communicate duties and performance expectations to kitchen personnel with the Kitchen Manager.
• Observe and coach employees on performance as appropriate.
• Assist Kitchen Manager with recruitment, selection, promotion and discipline.
• Help develop and implement plans to improve operating results and staff development.
• Collaborate to streamline kitchen operations, maintain efficiency, and control food costs.
• Provide product feedback and recommendations regarding products and merchandise.
• Ensure new menu items align with quality standards.
• Assist in implementing kitchen policies and procedures across shifts.
• Facilitate training sessions for kitchen staff on prep techniques and presentation.
• Model company vision and values to foster a positive team environment.
• Monitor procedures to comply with local, state, and federal food handling regulations.
• Ensure adherence to policies and customer satisfaction guidelines.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all kitchen positions.
