Sur La Table in Costa Mesa is seeking a Kitchen Assistant who will support chefs, engage guests, and help maintain a clean, well-organized kitchen environment.

You will help with class execution, drive customer satisfaction, and contribute to store sales goals while upholding food safety and brand standards. This role requires teamwork, reliability, and a passion for cooking, with flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Stay current on products and training; independently seek out resources.
• Lead a guest-obsessed culture in both the kitchen and retail sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive enrollment and positive guest feedback.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals and contribute to store revenue; track KPIs.
• Assist with class setup/breakdown, mise en place, prep ingredients, and cleaning stations.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment; restock and organize kitchen supplies.
• Ensure food safety compliance and adherence to health codes.
