Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support chefs during hands-on cooking classes and to maintain a clean, organized kitchen space while delivering a welcoming guest experience. This role emphasizes customer interaction, product knowledge, and teamwork across the store floor.

You will assist with mise en place, class execution, and maintaining sanitation standards, while helping to drive enrollment and positive guest feedback. A focus on safety and brand representation is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older at time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences for guests.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive enrollment and positive feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment, reviews, and guest return rates.
• Set up and breakdown of classes, prep ingredients and maintain clean workstations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and maintain inventory and tools.
