Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Process Engineer to support the pilot plant in Lebanon, Indiana, focusing on kilo-lab and high-potency chemistry. You will solve scale-up challenges, optimize unit operations, and ensure safety and cgmp compliance across equipment and procedures.

Initial location is Parkwood West, with permanent operations at the Lilly Medicine Foundry. The role requires a B.S./M.S. in chemical engineering and 1–4 years in pharma/biotech API manufacturing, with US work authorization.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in chemical engineering or related discipline; 1–4 years in pharma/biotech API manufacturing or development.
• Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly will not provide work visa sponsorship.
• Experience in GMP environments and scale-up of drug substance processes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate scale-up feasibility for new chemistries by analyzing data and modeling to transfer from gram- to kilogram-scale reactors.
• Design, test and install new equipment to meet evolving reaction needs.
• Operate kilo-scale reactor systems and containment equipment, collaborating with Kilo Lab and HP Lab chemists.
• Engineer containment and safe-handling strategies for HPAPI operations (isolators, glove boxes, OEB).
• Optimize crystallization, distillation, extraction, and isolation steps while tracking impurities.
• Safeguard quality, safety, and cgmp compliance; author technical reports and lab notebooks.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and develop project plans and timetables with a proactive mindset.
• Develop or review plans and timetables for project work.
