Job summary

The Save Mart Companies in Modesto, CA is seeking a Dept Specialist Key Carrier to oversee front-end operations, train staff, and ensure exceptional customer service in the absence of management. This full-time role requires strong leadership and operational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Good training skills and supervisory capability.
• Strong coordination and leadership skills.
• Good counting and math skills; ability to read/write documentation.
• Knowledge of front-end operations and check-stand procedures.
• Knowledge of compliance and basic relevant contract/work rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by training and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service.
• Manage front-end performance and productivity (over/short tills, check collection, cash handling, WIC/EBT compliance, receipts and efficiency).
• Direct Clerks and Clerks’ Helpers to achieve high levels of business performance in the assigned area.
• Ensure front-end and parking lot conditions are met (merchandising, cleanliness, carts, bags).
• Perform store balancing to enhance the shopping experience.
• Oversee front-end management tasks, including refunds, loans/pick-ups, and check authorization.
• Monitor customer experience on the front-end and adapt as needed.
• Occasionally maintain total store operations in absence of store management.
