Job summary

Alpha is hiring a Lower School Teacher to guide K–3 students through app-based literacy activities and data-driven instruction. You will diagnose gaps, design targeted sequences, and lead short literacy sessions with small groups on a campus.

You will stay with your students throughout the day, supporting reading progress, routines, and transitions. Relocation support is available; a bachelor's degree and structured-literacy training are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any subject.
• Structured-literacy training or master's in reading/literacy.
• Teaching certificate not required.
• Experience with reading instruction in K-3 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning: spotting who is stuck, asking the question that unblocks them, holding the daily goal.
• Running short structured-literacy sessions with two to four students, diagnosing gaps from running records and fluency probes, teaching a sequence you designed, and checking transfer.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities that keep six-year-olds moving.
• Driving students to weekly app goals with school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, addressing frustration with a plan for that child.

Education

Bachelor's degree in any subject

Structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS or equivalent; or a master's in reading or literacy)

Teaching certificate not required
